OBJECTIVE: To understand the efficacy of ionic silver dressing combined with hydrogel on promoting degree Ⅱ burn wound healing. METHODS: A total of 104 patients were selected from the Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery, First People's Hospital of Nantong from May 2007 to May 2009. All cases were randomly divided into treatment group(ionic silver dressing combined with hydrogel were used) and control group(1% silver sulfadiazine was used).Secretions extracted from wound were performed with bacterial culture at days 7, 10, 15, 17 and 21 after burning to record healing condition and velocity and observe adverse reaction, wound painfulness, and granulation damage. RESULTS: The detection rate of wound bacteria in the treatment group was significantly lower than control group (P<0.05). Wound healing time of the superficial degree Ⅱ in the treatment group was shorted 3.0-4.0 days compared with control group, and wound healing time of deep degree Ⅱ was shorted 5.0-6.0 days. The speed of wound healing in the treatment group was significantly faster than control group (P<0.05). There were no adverse reactions in both groups; additionally, the treatment group had no significant pain and no significant damage to granulation tissue during wound dressing. CONCLUSION: The ionic silver dressing combined with hydrogel remarkably promotes regeneration of granulation tissue and epithelial cells and accelerates wound healing; in addition, the combination has no adverse effect on the degree Ⅱ burn wound.
