CRD SUMMARY:

The authors concluded that professionals who treat knee osteoarthritis patients should encourage them to reduce body weight, especially if they are overweight. At least 5% reduction in weight within 20 weeks was required to experience a symptomatic relief. The conclusions appeared appropriate, but limited reporting of study quality and clinical heterogeneity mean they should be interpreted with some caution.
