CRD SUMMARY:

This review concluded that transforaminal epidural steroid injections improved pain, but not disability. There was no benefit from the addition of steroids, at three months and none at 12 months. The reliability of these contradictory conclusions is difficult to ascertain, given the limited evidence and the lack of a formal assessment of the risk of bias.
