CRD SUMMARY:

This review concluded that outpatient therapy of acute pulmonary embolism was probably safe in low-risk carefully selected compliant patients with access to outpatient care and this would be cost-effective. The conclusions were based poor-quality study designs and bias was possible, so they may not be reliable. Cost was not specifically investigated, so the cost conclusion should be interpreted with caution.
