CRD SUMMARY:

This review concluded that novel oral anticoagulants had a similar risk of recurrence of acute venous thromboembolism and all-cause mortality when compared with vitamin K antagonists; rivaroxaban was associated with a reduced risk of bleeding. The authors acknowledged limitations in the evidence that mean the results of the review should be treated with caution.
