CRD SUMMARY:

The authors concluded that anti-tumour necrosis factor alpha drugs were effective for rheumatoid arthritis, with little difference between infliximab, etanercept and adalimumab. Previous response to disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs influenced efficacy. The conclusions should be interpreted with a degree of caution, because of the small number of included studies, clinical and methodological variation between the studies and potential publication bias.
