[Clinical investigation of 0.3% levofloxacin eyedrops on the treatment of cases with acute bacterial conjunctivitis and bacterial keratitis].

PURPOSE:

To investigate the effects of 0.3% levofloxacin eyedrops on the treatment of acute bacterial conjunctivitis and bacterial keratitis.

METHODS:

The patients were randomly divided into treated group and control group. They were given 0.3% levofloxacin and 0.3% ofloxacin eyedrops respectively.

RESULTS:

From April to December in 1999, 132 cases were enrolled in the study. It showed that there was no significant difference between two drops in the cure and effective rates, but the mean cure day of keratitis in levofloxacin group was significantly shorter than that in ofloxacin group. No serious side effects occurred.

CONCLUSION:

Levofloxacin eyedrops was effective and safe antibiotics in treating bacterial conjunctivitis and keratitis.
